I am having a ball tying some of the classic wet flies, but i tend to cut the wings or they often don't sit well it always seems to come from the tread , is there a type of thread that slips better on the feathers, or maybe i dont hold them right, is there an article from the site that could help me out
Thanks

The forums are very quiet
The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Pinch!
Denis,
The best way to get the wings to sit is probably to pinch them really hard in place with your fingers over the hook and wing, then laying a loose loop of thread over them, taking the thread back up and pulling it tight using an upwards motion while holding the wing in place. This will have the thread going down on the wing and not twisting it as much. The thread usually has little effect when using that technique and it's even better to use a quite "sticky" thread than a smooth one because it will hold better once the first wraps are laid.
I hope this helps a bit.

Pinch
Thank you so much, my problem was the hard pinching, i wasn't pinching hard enough ,again a small detail that did a great change . Now i enjoy doing them so much.
Great
Denis,
I'm glad the solution was so simple and that my advice helped.
